As part of Network Services’ commitment to providing secure and reliable Wi-Fi access for our staff, students and guests, we will soon be introducing several new changes.

Please note, these changes will affect District 11 Wi-Fi networks only. All wired connections will be unaffected and will continue to work as expected. For a printable version of this information there is a PDF version under the attachments in this article.

New Wi-Fi Networks

D11-Secure
This is the new primary network to which all district-provided staff and student devices will connect. It will replace the current “D11_DATA” network.

D11-IoT
This is the new network to which all current and future district-provided smart devices such as ViewSonic ViewBoards and Airtame casting devices will connect.

D11-Guest
This is the network to which all personal devices used by staff, students, and guests will connect to the internet. It will replace the current “D11PersonalDevices” network.

How to Connect

District-Provided Devices
All Windows and macOS laptops as well as Chromebooks, iPads, iPhones, and newly deployed Android phones will be updated automatically to connect to D11-Secure. You do not need to do anything, and the device does not need to leave your hands, though it does need to be on-premises to update.

All smart devices in classrooms, common areas and conference rooms will be connected to D11-IoT by district school-based and field technicians.

Personal Devices
All personal devices will connect to D11-Guest. At the login screen you will need to create a new account before connecting. Enter your name and email address and a link will be sent via email that you will need to click to verify the account.
Generic guest access for special events and devices that do not support connecting via a login page can be requested by submitting a Happy Fox ticket.
