Note: These directions do not apply to front office staff, administrators, LTEs or DSTs. Those individuals should have an extension mobility phone.
Each school-based staff member (teacher, EA, classroom aide, etc.) is assigned a phone number when they are hired in D11. This number is attached to them as long as they work in District 11. To use this phone number on the physical phone in your classroom or office, it must first be forwarded to that physical phone. There can also be other options for users to forward their assigned number to.
Read more about the options for phone forwarding here. These instructions are on the D11 Intranet so you will need to be on the D11 wifi to access them or connected through the VPN if you are at home.
Forwarding Your Number to the Physical Phone in the Classroom
- Go to the Cisco Portal
- Log in. Your username is your email address ([email protected]) and your password is your network password
-
You will land on the "My Phones" screen showing your name and the phone number assigned to you. On the left side of the screen, click on the "Call Forwarding" tab
Under the Call Forwarding tab you will see your phone number, which begins in +1719. Most school-based staff will have phone numbers that begin in 328-XXXX or 228-XXXX
-
Before you can forward your number, you will need to make note of the number on the physical phone in your classroom. On the phone's screen, look for a 7-digit number. It will most likely start with 148XXXX
-
Next, click on the box next to "Forward all calls to" and make sure it is blue with the check mark in it
-
From the dropdown menu select "Add a new number"
-
Once you click that, the box will be blank. In the blank space, type in the number from the physical phone in your classroom: 148XXXX
-
Click SAVE
After your assigned D11 number is forwarded to your phone, you will be able to make calls internally (within the district) AND externally (to parents or family members). If your assigned D11 specific phone number is not forwarded to the physical phone in your classroom, that phone can only make internal calls, so it is important to forward your number to be able to communicate with your students' families.
